This design is the first in our new Urban Leaf collection, and features the iconic Duke of Wellington statue located outside the Gallery of Modern Art in the heart of Glasgow.
The Duke is best known for his quirky headgear - he is rarely seen without a traffic cone on his head, and often his horse wears one too. This symbol of Glasgow not only encapsulates the Glaswegian sense of humour, but also their unity and their rebellious nature. It often reflects the political climate of the times, changing over the years from its generic red with white reflector stripe to a rainbow for Pride, a constellation of stars as the UK left the EU, a raised fist in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, and most recently, when I visited him for his photo shoot, The Duke was wearing his cone in the colours of the Ukranian flag.
